Transylvania is the largest region in Romania which covers central part of that country. It is also the most popular tourist area. Although, Transylvania is famous for the legends about vampires (Dracula is the most popular vampire in the world) mostly, but, in fact, this land is dotted with numerous historical monuments such as fortresses, fortified churches and natural wonders. Transylvania is also a cultural mosaic, refering to its eventful history. Romanians, Hungarians, Saxons and Roma went through this area. Transylvania is surrounded by the Carpathian mountains. Many Fortifierd churches are spread through that region. Seven of them were inscribed into UNESCO list. Moreover, old cities are also worth visiting. Sighisoara, Sybin, Brasov, Targu Mures, Kluz Napoca or Alba Iulia are the most important and unique. In the mountain area, there is many park such as Apuseni Nature Park wich is a paradise for caving-lovers, Gradistea Muncelului-Cioclovina Nature Park with archaeological ruins or Piatra Craiului National Park which features spectacular rocky steep walls, unspoilt forests, and one of the world's deepest underground abysses of Coltii Grindului shaft which is 1771 feet deep. Transylvania region is perfect for those people who long for activities in beautiful environment. There is a lot of possibilities of spending time actively. You can decide on biking, caving, climbing, fishing, hiking, rafting, skiing, bird watching and much more.
Wine lovers can also find something of interest to them. In the area Tarnave, there are many vineyards such as Blaj, Jidvei, Medias, Tarnaveni, Zagar and Valea Nirajului. They are famous for their excellent white wines such as Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Traminer.
